CR6 has been developing their own take on world music for 17 years. This latest version of the band is ready to turn more than a few heads. The music on their latest CD, Carnivalesque, contains music inspired by cultures from 4 different continents. This show will be a belated CD release party. Just after mixing that record, extensive travel interrupted plans for a celebratory release. Once back on home soil, a personnel shift delayed that celebration a little longer.

Now back at full strength--with Zachary Biggus on guitar joining Tom Bowling and Andy Stees on violin, Gary Cleland on string bass, Larry Howe on mandolins, and Atiba Jali on percussion-- the CR6 sound has never been better. In addition to the new compositions on Carnivalesque, they've worked up even newer, as yet unrecorded, material that they'll debut at this show. These include a march inspired by an extended stay in Denmark, an altered blues tune in memoriam of founding member, Dave Effgen, and a Cuban charanga in honor of President Obama's historic visit to Havana. And they've refreshed some of the earlier compositions in their songbook with new rhythms, harmony parts, and hot solos as well.

So come on out on 21 October; CR6 fans who've waited awhile for the band's return to the stage are bound to be satisfied, and those new to the band will be delighted by music that rewards listeners and dancers in equal measure.
